This introduction to therapy dog work focuses on motivation, clicker training, positive reinforcement, polite public behaviour, socialization and building your basics.
Pre-requisite: You and your dog will need a basic understanding and aptitude for obedience skills. Your dog should be able to sit when asked, walk beside you without dragging you and make eye contact with you.
*****This class is the first step for teams wanting to advance into owner-trained service dog work and emotional support dog work.******
In this class students begin to better understand their working relationship with their dog while improving on the previous levels' skills and abilities including loose leash walking, polite interactions and building confidence.
Pre-requisite: Successful completion of Level One
In this level we begin to examine the needs of a working professional dogs and we work on managing canine stress, emotions and senses, reading body language, mat work and specialized environmental settings.
Pre-requisite: Successful completion of Level One and Two
This class is the culmination of all of the hard work and effort and takes your skills to the professional level. After successfully completing this level and passing the testing you are considered a Professional Therapy Dog Team.
