Puppies With Potential: Part 1 

9:15-10:15                   5 Weeks                                    Railway & Forestry Museum 

Whether you want a well socialized family pet or if you would eventually like to do therapy dog work, this is for new puppy owners. Puppies and their human partners will get an opportunity to meet, learn, train and socialize using positive reinforcement techniques. This class is held primarily OFF leash and strongly focuses on recall in various situations.  Puppies should be between 3 - 5 months of age.

Puppies with Potential: Part 2

5:30-6:30                       5 Weeks                            Railway & Forestry Museum

Continue to grow your puppies skills and abilities, keep up with socialization and let your puppy have fun with friends his or her own age.  This class will build on skills learned in Puppies with Potential: Part 1 as they learn more commands, get better at loose leash walking and recall.  Puppies should be between 5-9 months old.

CLASS Basic Obedience Training - BA Level

5:30-6:30                          7 Weeks                            Railway & Forestry Museum

You and your dog will play games while you challenge and grow your skills and work on basic obedience in a fun and lively class while working toward earning a Bachelor's Degree from this Internationally recognized training program by the APDT.

Trick Training for Beginners

6:30 - 7:45                    5 Weeks                            Railway & Forestry Museum

This introduction to tricks will let you see what your dog is capable of while learning tons of fun tricks (about 30!) that you can show off to your family and friends! This class follows the Do More With Your Dog! International program.

Trick Training Intermediate 

5:30 - 6:30                   5 Weeks                            Railway & Forestry Museum

This class builds on the skills learned in Trick Training for Beginners and introduces your to many new tricks while improving on those you learned in the previous class.

Pre-requisite: Successful completion of  Trick Training for Beginners.

Therapy Dog Training - Level One 

5:15 - 6:15                         8 Weeks                           Railway & Forestry Museum

This introduction to therapy dog work focuses on motivation, clicker training, positive reinforcement, polite public behaviour, socialization and building your basics.  

Pre-requisite: You and your dog will need a basic understanding and aptitude for obedience skills. Your dog should be able to sit when asked, walk beside you without dragging you and make eye contact with you.

*****This class is the first step for teams wanting to advance into owner-trained service dog work and emotional support dog work.*******

Therapy Dog Training - Level Two

6:30 - 7:30                      8 Weeks                            Railway & Forestry Museum

In this class students begin to better understand their working relationship with their dog while improving on the previous levels' skills and abilities including loose leash walking, polite interactions and building confidence.

Pre-requisite: Successful completion of Level One and 10 hours volunteer experience.

Therapy Dog Training - Level Three

5:15 - 6:15                      8 Weeks                           Railway & Forestry Museum

In this level we begin to examine the needs of a working professional dog and we work on managing canine stress, emotions and senses, reading body language, mat work and specialized environmental settings.

Pre-requisite: Successful completion of Level One and Two along with 10 hours volunteer experience.

May 7

Therapy Dog Training - Level Four

6:45 - 7:45                     8 Weeks                            Railway & Forestry Museum

In this level there is a focus on refining all the skills you have learned to date while incorporating advanced skills and theory.  There is an emphasis on human learning as well as assignments in order to make sure you are ready for becoming a professional working team.

Pre-requisite: Successful completion of Level One, Two and Three along with 10 hours volunteer experience.
